Outside of perhaps only the F-91W, the G-Shock DW-5600 is the iconic go-to watch for rough-and-tumble scenarios. The modern iteration is still largely based on the original G-Shock launched in the 1980s, with the same shock-resistant technology and a comparable square aesthetic.
Many military servicemen and women wear G-Shocks in the field due to their famed durability, so the DW-5600 will more than cope with your weekly fishing trip! As with most other shock-resistant watches, G-Shocks are generally very large, with this particular model sitting toward the smaller end of that spectrum, resulting in it being wearable for the average male wrist (though skinny folk may want to look at the smaller Casio digitals instead).
I still think this remains the best-looking, or should I say least ugly, G-Shock available, which our reviewer Weston also noted during his review. Pleasingly, you can now grab it in a variety of other colors and designs, some of which offer a host of additional functions over this base model.
